Nymphoides ezannoi is a relatively small Floating Heart species distributed in the north of the African tropics, from Senegal to Sudan. There it grows as a plant with floating leaves in permanent or periodically dry, stagnant waters. Its species name refers to the plant collector Père Ezanno.
The blades of the roundish floating leaves are 5 to 10 cm long. A short way under the leaf blade, seemingly on the leaf stalk, around 10 to 25 up to 2 cm large white flowers with a yellow middle appear, together with adventitious plants.
N. ezannoi plantlets may develop some submersed leaves in an aquarium, however, they soon start forming floating leaves only. This water lily is an easy-to-cultivate, recommendable plant with beautiful flowers suitable for open tanks or the water part of paludaria. It ought to be planted in substrate rich in nutrients. When kept free-floating on the water surface it soon wastes away.
