Description:

Bucephalandra sp. "Kedagang" is a small, particularly striking Bucephalandra form that is still a rarity in the aquarium hobby. It is also referred to as Bucephalandra sp. "Kudakan". It is not entirely clear what the trade name refers to; possibly the place Kudangan in the Indonesian part of Borneo (Kalimantan) is meant. We do not know its species identity, so it is referred to here as an unidentified species (Bucephalandra sp.).

The elongated leaves of B. sp. "Kedagang" grow to approx. 4 cm long and 0.8 cm wide, are shortly petiolate, arching, have a strongly undulate margin and an obtuse tip with a small apiculus. On the upper side they are a very dark brown to green with a bluish sheen and are dotted with silvery specks. The underside of the leaf is silvery whitish to pale violet. The rhizomes and young petioles are wine-red. The rhizome grows creeping to ascending (at the tip) and branches, so that over time the plant forms a many-headed clump. In the aquarium this Bucephalandra flowers rather rarely.
