Saururus chinensis

Saururus chinensis, the Chinese lizard's tail, is a stem plant of the lizard's tail family that occurs in India, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines. A forum post describes it as the East Asian sister species of the American lizard's tail (Saururus cernuus) and reports that a nursery once supplied it under that name.² According to this observation, its emersed leaves are less heart-shaped.²

A specialist book classes it as poorly suited to the aquarium.¹ Semi-emersed cultivation in open tanks and the midground are recommended; it needs plenty of light, also tolerates cool water, is suitable for garden ponds and can be propagated by runners and cuttings.
