Rotala macrandra 'Mini Type 2'

Rotala macrandra 'Mini Type 2' is a selection of the species native to southern India, whose delicate growth with very small leaves recalls an emersed plant even underwater.¹² Its leaves are partly roundish-ovate, partly elongate, the longer ones being domed in the centre with upturned margins; compared with 'Pearl' they are somewhat longer.²

Like 'Pearl', it is considered a probable mutant of 'Green' and therefore produces large-leaved, much faster-growing shoots, often soon after planting; if these are cut out immediately and only small-leaved shoots are replanted, its typical form is retained.² As with other forms of the species, soft water, sufficient CO₂ and nutrients and fairly strong light are advisable.² Planted in groups, the demanding plant works in the foreground and midground and especially in nano aquariums.²
