Lindernia rotundifolia 'Variegated'

The leaves of Lindernia rotundifolia 'Variegated' are roundish and marked with white: pale veins run parallel and in arcs across the blade, creating a striped pattern.² The selection is often sold under the species name alone; the specialist literature, by contrast, lists a white-variegated plant as L. parviflora “Variegated”, and whether it is the same plant remains open.¹² To preserve the markings, the occasional entirely green shoots are cut out.³

It grows briskly and makes few demands.²³ Under strong light it forms a dense bush that suits the midground best; under moderate light the stems stay upright and little branched and work as a group in the foreground to midground.²³ Grown emersed, for example in a paludarium, it spreads rapidly and bears blue and white flowers; seedlings, however, are plain green like the parent species.²
