Lilaeopsis macloviana is a member of the carrot family from southern South America that is little known in the aquarium hobby and only occasionally kept.12 Compared with L. brasiliensis, which grows only about 6 cm tall, it has much longer leaves.3 These are culm-like, hollow, round in cross-section and transversely grooved, as is typical of the genus; their length is given as up to 30 cm or as more than 30 cm.12
Combined with needle spike rush (Eleocharis acicularis), it produces natural-looking layouts; because of its height it belongs in the midground to background.23 As it does not need high temperatures, it is also an option for unheated tanks.2 It is propagated by runners, by division or by separating daughter plants, and it can also grow emersed.
