Lagenandra meeboldii "Pink"

Lagenandra meeboldii 'Pink' is a large-growing form of Lagenandra meeboldii that has been widespread as an aquarium plant in the USA for some years. Since 2013, plants have also been in the trade in Europe under the label L. meeboldii 'Pink'. However, they are apparently not identical to the 'Pink' known in the USA but to a different form, which is referred to here as L. meeboldii "Rot" ("Red").

Lagenandra meeboldii 'Pink' differs from L. meeboldii "Rot" ("Red") in that under water it develops lanceolate leaves with a barely heart-shaped base and a more strongly wavy margin, and over time becomes distinctly taller (up to approx. 45 cm). US internet forums also report, however, that the plant initially stays small for quite a long time. The appearance of old submersed plants is somewhat reminiscent of Cryptocoryne cordata var. siamensis. Newly sprouted leaves show pink tones, to which the trade name 'Pink' refers.
