Hydrotriche hottoniiflora develops best in soft water with a slightly acidic pH. However, this plant is very adaptable and can also grow in harder water with a slightly basic pH for some time.
Like most other aquatic plants, Hydrotriche hottoniiflora needs a nutrient-rich substrate for optimal growth. A sufficiently high level of CO2 dissolved in the water is also recommendable for the successful cultivation of this species.
Once it has reached the water surface it starts developing its beautiful flowers.
