Description: 

Hemigraphis colorata is a strikingly violet-coloured terrestrial plant from the South-American tropics which comes in quite a few varieties. Like Hygrophila and Staurogyne it belongs to the Acanthaceae family. Even though it is sold as plant for aquaria it is not suitable for submersed cultivation and dies off after a few days under water.
