The Echinodorus variety 'Tanzende Feuerfeder' (translates as dancing fire feather) was bred by Tomas Kaliebe and came onto the market in 2002. It got its name in honour of the dancing group "Tanzende Feuerfeder" of the Loehme firefighters (Loehme is in Barnim county, Brandenburg, Germany).
This plant grows up to 70 cm high and is thus to be counted among the large-growing Echinodorus varieties. Its submersed leaves have a very longish-elliptical form, the leaf blades can grow up to 30 cm in lenght and 7 cm in width. Its colour is olive-green to wine-red, with a flamed pattern and irregular red spots.
This well-growing sword plant also keeps its red colour and flame pattern under moderate light. As it needs a lot of space, it is a suitable solitary plant, a stunning eyecatcher for high tanks.
