Echinodorus 'Ozelot Grün'

Echinodorus 'Ozelot Green', as it is called in the trade, is a colour form of the hybrid Echinodorus 'Ozelot' bred by Hans Barth in Dessau; growth habit and leaf shape match the original cultivar, only the colour differs.¹²⁴ On the bright light to medium green blades with their wavy margin, the brownish to reddish brown spotting stands out particularly clearly; under intense, red-rich light, young leaves may turn slightly reddish.¹²³⁴

The plant is regarded as uncomplicated and copes with very different conditions; nutrients in the substrate and additional fertilisation promote its growth.²³⁴ It is recommended for the midground and background of aquariums from about 50 cm tall; only large tanks also offer it space at the front.¹² Statements on its light requirement range from low to intense.¹²³⁴ It has been in the trade since the end of 1998 and is propagated commercially by tissue culture.¹
