Cryptocoryne beckettii "Petchii Pink"

This water trumpet has been in the trade since about 2012. It is offered as in-vitro plants by the company Anubias (Bologna, Italy) under the name Cryptocoryne petchii "Pink". It is a selection of Cryptocoryne beckettii "Petchii" from Sri Lanka, which has been known in the aquarium hobby for many years (C. petchii is a synonym). That is why the plant is called C. beckettii "Petchii Pink" in this database entry.

Cryptocoryne beckettii "Petchii Pink" has light reddish to brownish leaves with a red underside, and especially the newly emerging leaves show pink tones. It possibly stays lower than its parent form C. beckettii "Petchii" and may also grow more slowly, but plants from in-vitro culture sometimes take a very long time to reach their full size, and so far there is only little experience with C. beckettii "Petchii Pink".

However, one can certainly assume that this plant is just as undemanding as the other Cryptocorynes, long known in aquaristics, from the species group native to Sri Lanka around C. wendtii and C. beckettii.

While darker brown to green tones generally predominate in Cryptocorynes, C. beckettii "Petchii Pink" is one of the few water trumpets with which a light colour accent can be set.
