Bucephalandra motleyana 'Braun-rot narrow' is an older name for an epiphytic plant from Borneo that is now listed as Bucephalandra sp. 'Braun-rot narrow'.1 It is a selection from the plants that Wim Tomey collected near Serimbu in West Kalimantan and that were passed on among aquarists from 2004 onwards.12 According to Wong & Boyce (2014) it does not belong to B. motleyana; that species is known only from the material Motley collected in south-eastern Kalimantan, and it is not in cultivation.13
Its leaves are very narrowly lanceolate, more elongated and softer than in 'Braun-rot', with margins that are at most slightly wavy.1 Submersed, the rhizome tends to creep and turns upwards at the tip; the plant grows slowly.12
