Anubias minima was described as a species in 1909 by Auguste Jean Baptiste Chevalier. According to Crusio (1987)1, this name is a synonym of Anubias barteri var. glabra.
The name Anubias minima is, however, still frequently used in the aquarium plant trade. Apparently several forms of Anubias barteri var. glabra, which differ from one another in size and leaf shape, are in cultivation. They are partly referred to as A. minima and partly also by other names.
