Ludwigia sp. 'Super Red' denotes a deep red form of Ludwigia palustris, listed by Flowgrow as L. palustris 'Super Red'.12 Of unknown origin, it entered the trade in the early 2010s, at first also as Ludwigia sp. 'Red'.12 According to Kasselmann, its red lies within the natural colour range of the species, so a separate cultivar name is not justified.2
Even moderate light is enough for a deep red; more light and CO₂ enhance colour and growth.134 The similarly coloured Ludwigia 'Rubin', sometimes also traded as Ludwigia sp. 'Red', has distinctly larger leaves, some of them alternate; in 'Super Red' they are always decussate.13 Trimming makes its growth, already bushy thanks to many side shoots, denser still; with its small leaves it is also suitable for red accents in nano aquariums.134
