The trade name Ludwigia sp. 'Dark Orange' refers to the cultivar Ludwigia sp. 'Atlantis' and is regarded as its synonym.134 The cultivar comes from the former Atlantis nursery (Altlandsberg-Wegendorf), where Tomas Kaliebe selected and named it.234 It presumably belongs to the hybrid L. palustris × L. repens;23 the wild form probably originates from North America.2
Under water the foliage takes on yellowish orange to dark orange tones depending on the light, and the pale yellow veins recede;23 emersed leaves in particular show high-contrast markings.234 The stem plant is considered easy, is planted in larger numbers in the midground and background and propagated by cuttings;23 its growth is given partly as fast, partly as moderate.23 It can also be grown emersed.2
