Alternanthera reineckii 'rosaefolia minor' was the name of the dwarf form when it appeared in Europe around 2007; today it is mostly called A. reineckii 'Mini'.12 The species occurs from Bolivia and Brazil to northern Argentina.3 The origin of the dwarf form is unknown; it may be a cultivated form.12
Submersed it stays low thanks to strongly compressed internodes, branches profusely and turns a deep brownish red.12 Trimmed, it forms a dense carpet about 5–10 cm high for the foreground or a nano aquarium.14 It grows more slowly than other forms and, like them, appreciates CO₂, complete fertilisation and fairly strong light.14 Emersed it elongates and then resembles other forms.12
