Microsorum pteropus "Red"

Microsorum pteropus 'Red' was found in the south of Thailand and was brought into trade by the Danish aquatic plant nursery Tropica. This Java fern variety grows very tall and has broad leaves. The pronouncedly brownish red young leaves is a characteristic of M. pteropus 'Red'. As soon as the leaves harden off, they turn green and assume the same colour as standard Java fern.
Red Java fern is especially suited for large aquaria due to its tallness.
